Domain registration Eritrea

The official extension for Eritrea is .ER.

Currently, it is not possible to register a domain name directly with this extension. However, for those companies with interests in Eritrea, or that are looking to protect their trademark within the country, it is possible to register domain names with other, official, second level extensions.

Eritrea is a presidential republic located in East Africa. It is bordered by Sudan to the west, by Ethiopia to the south and by Djibouti to the south east, and its territory includes the Dahlak Archipelago. It also has extensive coastline along the Red Sea. It is divided into 6 regions and 55 districts.

It covers a total area of 121,320 km², with a population of 5,253,676. The landscape is varied, consisting of very distinct geographical areas: in the northern and central regions, characterised by a mild climate and fertile land, there is a vast highland range; in the north west, the land is hilly; in contrast, coastal areas consist mainly of vast, dry plains. The capital is Asmara and the currency is the Nafka. Eritrea is a poor country, with an economy based on subsistence agriculture and rearing livestock. The country’s abundant mineral deposits are exploited by foreign companies. The official languages are Arabic and Tigrinya.
