Domain registration Cyprus

The official domain extension for Cyprus is .CY.

Currently, it is not possible to register a domain name directly with this extension. However, for those companies with interests in Cyprus, or that are looking to protect their trademark within the country, it is possible to register domain names with other, official, second level extensions.

Cyprus, officially the Republic of Cyprus, is an island presidential republic located in Eastern Europe, south of the Turkish coast and west of Syria. It is divided into six districts; the northern area, the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus, formally a state, is not recognised by the international community. The capital and seat of government is Nicosia.
Cyprus covers a total area of 9,250 km²; the hinterland is mountainous (limestone to the north, volcanic to the south) with an encompassed central plain (Mesaoria).

The population of 1,002,679 (2012) is made up of Orthodox Christian Greeks and Muslim Turks; the official languages are Greek and Turkish, and the local currency is the Euro.

The island’s main economic resource is tourism, though there is a growing manufacturing industry (textiles, tobacco, agriculture and food).
