Domain registration Israel

The official domain extension for Israel is .IL.

Currently, it is not possible to register a domain name directly with this extension. However, for those companies with interests in Israel, or that are looking to protect their trademark within the country, it is possible to register domain names with other, official, second level extensions.

Israel is a parliamentary republic located where was once the ancient Kingdom of Israel. It is bordered to the north by Lebanon, to the east by Jordan and Syria and to the south west by Egypt; to the west lies the Mediterranean Sea. The country is not officially recognised by most Arab countries, with the exception of Egypt and Jordan.

Israel covers a total of 22,072 km² of mainly arid, desert land (especially in the southern Negev Desert), however, it does possess fertile plains along the coast. In central areas, there are hills and high ground which drop down abruptly to the Jordan Rift Valley in the east.

The population is mainly Jewish and numbers around 8,000,000; roughly one million people live in the capital, Jerusalem, an important city, both historically and geopolitically. The official languages are Israeli and Arabic, and the local currency is the Israeli New Shekel. The country’s main resources come from exports in agricultural, pharmaceutical, computer and chemical products; and also diamonds and military technologies.
